DFCU Financial Donates $5,000 to Waverly 10/28/2009

DFCU Financial, headquartered in Dearborn, recently donated $5,000 to the Waverly Community Schools during a ceremony at DFCU’s Pennsylvania Ave. branch in Lansing, MI on October 21st, 2009. DFCU Financial, Michigan’s largest credit union, is supporting school districts through donations in the communities where it has branch locations. Statewide, DFCU Financial will be distributing a total of $160,000 to school districts.
"It’s been one year since the peak of the crisis that put our economy in a tailspin," said Mark Shobe, president and CEO of DFCU Financial. "Though the worst seems to be over, people are now dealing with the financial aftermath of the economic storm. Individuals, businesses, our own government and schools are experiencing the fallout. At DFCU Financial, we feel strongly that business, communities, government and school districts must work together to make Michigan a better place to live and work. Our state’s future depends on it and this is why we’re donating money to our local school districts."
Waverly Superintendent, Dr. Pillar comments, "Waverly Community Schools appreciates the donation from DFCU. These are tough times for education and for business, so DFCU’s contribution to Waverly is exceptionally generous."
