Filing Deadline for Board of Education Positions 01/13/2009 Citizens interested in running for four-year terms on the Waverly Community Schools Board of Education have until Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. to file. Two Board of Education seats are open in the next election. The terms of Edith Suttles and Britt Slocum expire on June 30, 2009. The election will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2009.
Qualifications are that a person must be a resident of the school district, at least 18 years of age, and a registered voter. Petitions may be obtained from the Delta Township Clerk’s office at 7710 W. Saginaw Highway. A candidate needs to obtain a minimum of 40 signatures and a maximum of 100 signatures before filing. A $100 non-refundable fee may be filed in lieu of a petition.
Each term of office runs from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2013.
