Senior Party Parent Meeting on Nov. 5th

11/04/2008
November 2008

Dear Fellow Senior Parent:

The purpose of the letter is to ask you for your help with the Waverly Senior Party.  The Senior Party is an important Waverly tradition in which the parents plan and put on a fun evening at the high school for our graduating seniors.  This year’s Senior Party will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2009 from 7pm - 12am.

Having a successful Senior Party takes a lot of time, effort and money (total cost approximately $6,500 -$7,000).  As Waverly Community Schools does not provide funds for this event, all monies must be raised by the parents.  This is where you come in!

A contribution of at least $25.00 per Senior Family is requested.  Donations are being sought from a number of sources, but the bulk of our funds come from our senior families.  Thank you for those who have contributed their $25.00.  If you have not contributed yet, please make checks payable to:  Waverly Senior Party and mailed or brought in to the Waverly High School Athletic Office (next to the Auditorium).  Please put your student’s name on the memo line to help us ensure accurate accounting.

We realize this request is coming just before the holidays.  However, planning for the party has started, and before long, deposits will be due.  Sending your contributions early will enable us to plan efficiently and make the best use of our money especially with the holiday sales and using some of the money to purchase prizes that will be given to seniors on the night of the party.  Our goal is to make this one of the most memorable parts of your senior’s graduation experience.  Please provide your $25 no later December 17, 2008, the Wednesday before Winter Break.

On a fun note, the Entertainment Committee is once again sponsoring the popular Baby Photo Contest.  The kids really love this!  Please send a baby picture of your student  (up to age 4), either with your donation, or separately, to the Athletic Office at the high school.  Make sure your photo is labeled with your student’s name.  We will try to return the pictures to the students the evening of the party.

We still need lots of help on the various committees that have formed to make this event a reality.  Volunteering to help plan and put on the Senior Party is a rewarding experience for all those involved!  If you can help on this project, please indicate on the attached note and send it with your check/baby photo or call/email Elizabeth Hernandez at: (517) 282-3891 Lhernandez120@cs.com.

Our first meeting is Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 6:30 pm, in the cafeteria.  Hope you can be there!

A couple of last minute notes, we are going to try to communicate through email (for speed, accuracy and cost savings) so if you could please send a quick email to Lhernandez120@cs.com with your name and your student’s name in the subject line, we will then begin creating an accurate group list so that we can communicate with reminders and send updates to you.  Last, prizes will be given away on the Senior Party night, if you have something you’d like to donate, or if you can ask for donations from your favorite restaurant or store, please let us know.  We do have a committee for prizes and donations, but as you know donations can be difficult to get, so the more working on this, the more prizes we’ll be able to give to our seniors.

Sincerely Your 2009 Waverly Senior Party Co-Chairs,

Elizabeth Hernandez          Cindy Peruchietti          Karen Shaler          Lisa Bond Brewer
