Fifteen Waverly teams participated in the Lansing-area Regional Destination ImagiNation Tournament held Saturday March 12th at Holt High School. Nine Waverly Destination ImagiNation teams earned a place in the State DI Competition to be held Saturday April 16th in Mount Pleasant.

Destination ImagiNation is a team, creative, problem-solving competition which culminates in the Global Finals held this year May 25-28 in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The following nine Waverly DI teams earned a trip to the state competition:

First Place in the Middle Level of the Dizzy Derby challenge was earned by the Waverly East Intermediate School team of Aidan Dahm, Ashante' Gill, Keith Maclennan, Ethan Nagy, Arinze Okafor, and Tommy Quinn coached by Melissa O'Keefe and Maureen Dally.

First Place in the Senior Level of the DIsigning Bridges challenge was earned by the Waverly High School team of Samantha Fritz, Katie Hanson, Katie Jo Knechtel, Emily Popma, Lauren Schroeder, and Scott Venman coached by Gayl Venman.

Second Place in the Middle Level of the IMPROVing Along challenge was earned by the Waverly Middle School team of Jessie Brown, Addie Forgrave, Erik Hanson, Elisabeth Hooker, Megan Mahoney, Luke Trial, and Emily Wyble coached by Gala Brown and Lori Hooker.

Second Place in the Senior Level of the IMPROVing Along challenge was earned by the Waverly High School team of Aaron Campbell, Zack Davis, Luke D'Mello, Megan D'Mello, Andrew Fritz, Matt Pike, and Margot Saxena coached by Dave and Cathy Pike.

Second Place tie in the Elementary Level of the Live It's RaDIo DI! challenge was earned by the Waverly East Intermediate School team of Katie Baumer, Anthony Fisher, Jamie Gallup, Lynzie Melville, Emily Nichols, Rachel Weinfeld, and Dasiy Yonkus coached by Betsy Gallup and Laurie Baumer.

Third Place in the Senior Level of the Live It's RaDIo DI! challenge was earned by the Waverly High School team of Danielle Baur, Raean Fisher, Jonathan Mickelson, Luke Slocum, Ryan Wade, Tiffany Wilburn, and Joel D'Souza coached by Renee Mickelson.

Fourth Place in the Senior Level of the IMPROVing Along challenge was earned by the Waverly High School team of Amia Davis, Kenny Gallihugh, Andrew Gallup, Christopher Harris, Stephanie Nuzzolilo, Rachell Silva, and Jenelle Smith coached by Brian Gallup.

Fourth Place in the Senior Level of the Live It's RaDIo DI! challenge was earned by the Waverly High School team of Katie Martin, Mer'on Mulat, Kayla Olson, Huy Phan, Meaghan Rasinske, and Kanika Sharma coached by Mary Martin.

Fourth Place in the Elementary Level of the DIsigning Bridges challenge was earned by the Waverly East Intermediate School team of Brody Brown, Alex Dartt, Mckee Hibbs, Nathan Hilbrecht, Jacob McCloud, Dylan Stanaway, and Christian Zawadzinski coached by Dawn Zawadzinski.

The following four Waverly teams received recognition at the DI regional tournament awards ceremony:

Fifth Place in the Middle Level of the Live It's RaDIo DI! challenge was earned by the Waverly East Intermediate School team of Kayla Cratty, Clarke Cross, Miki Moore, Chinemelu Okafor, and Brenna Reed coached by Lee Moore and Karen Cratty.

Fifth Place in the Middle Level of the DIsigning Bridges challenge was earned by the Waverly East Intermediate School team of Cameron Cross, Nathan Patino, Danny Phan, Kyle Richard, Maggie Slocum, Aaron Wade, and Stasa Wade coached by Bruce and Marilyn Fox-Wade.

Fifth Place in the Middle Level of the IMPROVing Along challenge was earned by the Waverly Middle School team of Angela Bennett, Emily Cratty, Kimberly Ellsworth, Marybeth Flanagan, Krista Mickelson, Allison Shaler, and Angela Wright coached by Karen Shaler.

Sixth Place in the Senior Level of the IMPROVing Along challenge was earned by the Waverly High School team of Samantha Ash, KellyCarter, Erin Cline, Eri Sanchez, Andy Slater, and Kenny Slocum coached by Tony Ash.

The following two Waverly teams also participated in the DI regional tournament:

The Winans Elementary School team which competed in the Elementary Level of the Live It's RaDIo DI! challenge included Moira Dahm, Lauren Grosnickle, Leannah McCloud, Emily Nagy, Mariah Thomas, and Meredith Wright coached by Angela McNary.

One Waverly team was a non-competitive team of Kindergarten and First Grade Rising Stars whose challenge was More to the Story. This Winans Elementary School team included Laney Alvarado, Lukas Anderson, Audrey Fisher, Brittni Fox, Daphne Groth, Jack Maclennan, Adrian McCloud, and Joseph Wright coached by Alicea Anderson, Jodi Broth, and Chris Alvarado.
