The Delta-Waverly Relay For Life

04/13/2007

The Delta-Waverly Relay For Life, “Its a Celebration... of HOPE”,  is a fun-filled overnight event designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer in our community. At the event, we celebrate survivorship and raise money to help the American Cancer Society in its mission to save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back. During the event, teams of people will gather at the Waverly High School Track and take turns walking or running laps and participating in fun-filled events and competitions. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times - a challenge that becomes all too easy with the activities planned throughout the entire 24-hours!! The day will be filled with smells of BBQs, sounds of children laughing, music and dancing, tears of joy and tears of remembrance, and feelings of HOPE and purpose!

This years event will begin on Friday, June 8th at 5:00 p.m. and continue until Saturday, June 9th at 5:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Waverly High School track. Opening ceremony is Friday at 6:00 p.m. with the luminaria ceremony at dusk.
