Colt Students Learn about the Weather Courtesy of WILX 10

03/08/2005

"When we got to look in the van." "When he spoke about the weather." "Everything." "When (a fellow student) taped us." These were some of the Colt Second Grade students' responses to the question: "What did you like best about the visit of WILX-TV Chief Meteorologist Darrin Rockcole?"

Rockrole gave a presentation in the classroom, answered student questions, and showed the students the WILX 10 Weather Van on Tuesday, March 8th. Rockcole said the van is for severe weather, and he is happy to show it. "For him the real thing is in the classroom talking to the students." The Colt Second Graders, taught by Teacher Susan Ellsworth and Student Teacher Nicole Brocht, had many questions for Rockcole; they were fascinated by the weather van despite the 19 degree temperature. The Tuesday visit was taped by one of the students and will be shown on WILX (channel 10) this Tuesday, March 8th during the 6pm broadcast and Wednesday, March 9th during the 6:10a.m. broadcast.
