Deputy Superintendent Pappas Retires 01/12/2005
Dan Pappas Retires After 33-1/2 Years in Education and 31 Years of Service to the Waverly Community Schools

The Waverly Board of Education approved the retirement of Deputy Superintendent Dan Pappas at the January 10th meeting effective February 11, 2005.
Over the course of 31 years Mr. Pappas has served as Social Studies and Science teacher, Assistant Principal at East Intermediate, Principal at Winans Elementary, Principal at East Intermediate, Assistant Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and Interim Superintendent. Except for a brief time working for Wayne Intermediate School District, Mr. Pappas has served the students, staff, and Waverly community throughout his career.
Mr. Pappas had primary responsibility for the reopening of Waverly East Intermediate in 1994. He has long served as the leader of Waverly's curriculum & instructional efforts K-12. He has served in all of the district's strategic planning efforts since 1994.
Mr. Pappas is active in his community with the Greater Lansing Area Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission, Lansing-Waverly Rotary, Sparrow Greater Lansing Area Advisory Council, St. Vincent Home for Children Project Hope, and Riverwalk Theater Board of Directors, to name a few.
Mr. Pappas will continue to serve the educational community through the Michigan Association of School Administrators as their Associate Executive Director and as the Executive Director for the Michigan Institute of Educational Management. |
