The students of Winans Elementary School were affected in many ways by the recent tragic events in Asia. Some of our students families were even touched by the tsunami tragedy. Therefore, the Winans Student Council will be having a read-a-thon to raise money for disaster relief. We will be asking businesses and individuals to sponsor us on a per book basis. Each student will be able to read up to 10 books the night of the read-a-thon. The maximum number of books possible is about 3500. Therefore, a 1¢ pledge would be about $35 and 1/2¢ per book will be no more than $18.
