Hockey Team releases new poster 01/03/2005 The Grand Ledge/Waverly High School Ice Hockey team has partnered with the Army Aviation Support Facility in Grand Ledge to produce their 2004-05 hockey poster and schedule. The poster is entitled "Grand Ledge-Waverly Hockey, Rising to the Challenge".
The poster is funded by donations from the area business community. The poster and schedule was produced to raise awareness of the sport of High School Ice Hockey in the Grand Ledge and Waverly community. The team is a member of the Capital Area Activities Conference (CAAC) and play their home games at the Summit at the Capital Centre.
The posters will be distributed to area businesses for display. They will also be used in conjunction with the hockey team's monthly volunteer community service projects. So far the hockey team has helped with the State Poly-Hockey Special Olympics and the Salvation Army bell ringing. The posters will also be distributed during special "Poster Give Away" nights for both schools during the hockey season.
On Nov. 10th, 2004, 115 members from Company F of the Michigan National Guards 238th Aviation Regiment stationed in Grand Ledge were deployed for training and service in Iraq. The team will be sending copies of their hockey poster to members from this unit. It is the hope the poster brings a little bit of the Grand Ledge and Waverly Community to them as they serve our country overseas. The Grand Ledge-Waverly Ice Hockey Association would like to thank the Army Aviation Facility in Grand Ledge for their assistance with this project.
