Winans Raises Money For Haiti Earthquake Relief

01/26/2010
The Winans Family Council and the Winans Student Council are partnering in a Haiti Earthquake relief change drive through Friday 1/30. The Student Council will collect loose change. An educational component is added as the classes will count their own change. The Family Council will MATCH the loose change collected up to $500. The total amount will be donated to the Red Cross.

A Winans Family Council member who wanted to involve her children in helping Haitian children came up with the idea, in cooperation with Barb Knighton, who runs the Student Council. Allena Tapia, WFC Member, comments,  "I wanted my children and their classmates to know that they never need to feel helpless. There is always something that can be done to help others, even in the face of such devastation."
