Waverly Community Schools is committed to providing quality career education for all students in order to prepare productive and responsible citizens working in careers by choice, no t by chance. Students are focusing on PEGS (Personal Education Goals) through career learning that is integrated in the core curriculum at all grade levels. Students are actively engaged in career awareness, exploration, education and training activities to develop their academic, technical and employability skills.
All students will
- Arts and Communication
- Business Management, Marketing & Technology
- Engineering/Manufacturing & Industrial Technology
- Human Services.
- Health Sciences;
- Natural Resource and Agri-science
- Develop an Educational Development Plan, identify personal strengths and interests, plan a course of study to prepare for the future.
- Apply Language Arts concepts (reading, writing, speaking, listening), math concepts, scientific principles, technology, and social studies to work-related situations.
- Be introduced to examples of women and men in non-traditional careers,
- Discuss various employment options and various opportunities for post-secondary learning: apprenticeships, community college, university studies, on-the-job training, trade school, and job-shadowing.
- Connect classroom learning with the skills and knowledge needed on the job.
- Learn to apply classroom problem-solving models to workplace situations, working in teams and identifying goals, task plans, timelines, and results.
- Learn from business partners in the community, Waverly alumni and parents who are sharing their expertise with students through career days, classroom presentations and work site visits.
The support, commitment, and hard work of many individuals, including Waverly Board of Education, administrators, staff, and business volunteers are making this possible. The benefits to our future workforce and our community are immeasurable!
